The Pulse-Eight Dolby DAC (P8-DDAC) decodes a Dolby Digital signal from an S/PDIF coaxial or TOSLINK optical source and downmixes it to analogue stereo (L/R) on phono outputs. That lets a modern digital source — Blu-ray, Apple TV, set-top box or games console — feed an analogue amplifier, hi-fi, recording deck or powered speakers with a clean stereo signal.
Unlike a plain converter, it handles the Dolby Digital downmix itself, so multichannel bitstreams arrive as proper stereo. An input-select switch chooses coax or optical, and the compact anodised-aluminium unit runs from a simple 5V supply.
